Conductor

The UPC Orchestra's conductor, Lluís Carné i Miguélez, was born in 1962 in Mataró. He took piano and choir conduction lessons, and was conducting the choir Pueri Cantores de Mataró in 1979.
In 1985 he founded the Coral Arquitectura which he still conducts. He has also conducted other choirs like Cor de Cambra de Mataró, Coral Gaudeamus de Barcelona, Coral Garbí de Sabadell and Coral Estel de la parròquia del Pilar de Barcelona.
Between 1993 and 2003 he was the organ player and choirmaster of Santa Maria de Montserrat de Pedralbes, in Barcelona, a stage in which he performed an important task of recovering religious music from Catalan composers.
Since 1978 he periodically participates in the preparation and interpretation of Manuel Blanch's Missa de Glòria, and important piece of the Catalan musical heritage that is played yearly in Mataró for their festival.

In 2000 he founded the UPC Orchestra, an ensemble he conducts jointly with the Coral Arquitectura. He has done many performances with both and has taken care of the recovery of Catalan composer repertoire. Between 1999 and 2012 he participated as a lecturer in choir music for the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where he works since 1990.
